Going to hike Fushimi Inari Taisha tomorrow morning to see the sunrise, anyone wanna join me?

(25m) I'm travelling Japan at the moment and the two people I'm with aren't unhinged enough to join me in this, I love foxes so I feel destined to hike this and I'm curious if anyone on here might wanna join me lol

  1. It’s a beautiful hike have a good time. Getting their early is a good idea you’ll beat the crowds

  2. Is there a sunrise spot there though? The temple area is on the east side of the mountain therefore it is facing west

  3. I just did this hike last week. I woke up at 3:30am, walked 50mins from my hotel to Fushimi Inari Taisha. When I reached the summit at 5:30am, there were already people there, and on my hike back down at 6:00, streams of tourists were already on their way up. To be fair most of the hike in the dark was peaceful and alone

  4. I like spending all night wandering around there all alone 🙂 I think from that angle the sun would come up behind the mountain? But the crowds start arriving really early, so be careful~

  5. The Daimonji hike near Ginkakuji (not to be confused with Kinkakuji) is amazing for sunrise/sunset and has stunning views in general.

Not to discourage you from Fushimi Inari, but it’s concrete stairs the whole way up and the views are underwhelming. Still fun though

  6. I would Google before you go, find some photos online and if there’s something good that you wanna re-create, try that. It’s a great temple and it’s really fun to climb up to the top, just don’t do it in brand new shoes like I did.
