What’s the best city for a day tour from Tokyo?

We’d like somewhere different from the busy crowds of Tokyo.

So far, we’re considering Yokohama, Nikko, and Nagano – does anyone here have other suggestions in mind?

We’re looking for a city with a Kobe vibe: slower pace, closer to nature, and peaceful.
