Kanagawa Prefectural Police arrest Chinese woman who fled after stabbing woman on JR Tokaido Line;

On the 28th of this month, in an incident where a woman slashed another woman and fled at the JR Tokaido Line, police arrested a 35-year-old Chinese national living in Kawasaki City.

The suspect, identified as Pang Kang, a 35-year-old resident of Asao Ward in Kawasaki City and of Chinese nationality, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The incident occurred after 6 PM on the 28th, when Pang is suspected of injuring a 37-year-old woman by slashing her arm with what appeared to be a knife as the woman was attempting to board a train on the platform of the JR Tokaido Line at Yokohama Station.

According to the police, the two women did not know each other. Surveillance footage from JR Yokohama Station captured the two apparently getting into a dispute over boarding the train.

Following the incident, a patrolling police officer spotted Pang at a ticket gate at Yokohama Station yesterday. The arrest was made after the officer approached her at Kawasaki Station.

During questioning, Pang has deferred her response, stating, “I will talk after consulting with my lawyer.”

The police are continuing to investigate the motive and other details related to the incident.
