Why does the population seem to take the population collapse without any seriousness?

This summer I have witnessed a bunch of the protests against immigration. I don't get something that's bothered me constantly as I've worked and lived here: Japan is in the middle of a complete population collapse, debt is 235% of GDP and median age is near retirement (like 50 years old,) the rural areas are dying and people moving to the cities, and still everyone's like "KEEP JAPAN JAPANESE!!"

Like I get it. You don't want people who won't contribute. But you have a major problem you made yourself. You're literally collapsing and your economy is stretched to a breaking point. And they just don't seem to care. They hate foreigners more than figuring out a way to fix the problem. Like this is an existential threat to Japan. DO SOMETHING. Every time I see these protests I wonder if they have any passion for fixing the problem that this all stems from. It seems they don't.
