I am posting this here just to compare how he has been developed and booked compared to Umino, Tsuji, Uemura, whoever you want to mention.

I’m very salty about how he’s been booked vs my boy Inamura going on infinite excursions
I’ve really liked OZAWAS character and direction he’s been going in excited to see what he looks to do next. Out of umino tsuji and Uemura shooter is my fave and it sucks that his character is in weird spot rn his in ring is def improving for sure tsuji and uemura are already there I feel like especially Uemura.
Going all in on a returning young boy who has very good matches while also becoming the biggest draw. New Japan should try that.
NOAH, in recent years, is all for new stars, Kiyomiya also won GHC early. They made new stars pretty quick (but maybe due to stick to the same main event group for almost 10 years before that).
AJP also has a lot of interesting new faces. Saito brothers are not exactly my favorite in the ring, but I acknowledge that they have charisma and some public recognition (also Anzai is getting there).
Then there’s DDT with a whole bunch of younger top guys, Of all the companies, I think this is the best promotion to get new guys over.
It’s kinda sad that NJPW wasn’t willing to pull a trigger more for newer guys, especially when Okada was with them. Now, it’s hard to put them over in a big way. While other promotions will not gonna surpass them anytime soon. They need to do something already.
I’m not sure that I really understand what the appeal is with OZAWA. I can see that he has something different about him and that this something seems to be working out. I don’t think he is as good in the ring as any of New Japan’s current crop.
I can accept the fact that New Japan’s booking of their new generation leaves something to be desired, but I’m not necessarily convinced that NOAH have done anything remarkable with OZAWA so much as they’ve lucked into into a guy who has a fully formed character and it’s a character that has gotten over.
I suppose wrestling isn’t really rocket science though. If you’ve found a guy with the magic “IT” factor then you run with him and that’s it. Pretty hard to fuck it up. When you’ve got guys who don’t quite have “IT” then the job of booking them gets more complicated.
I was lucky. The first wrestling show I went to in Japan was the show where Ozawa debuted.
I still have the mask they gave to celebrate his first match.
Comparing NJPW to other promotions to show you how much they refuse to push the new gen:
Kaito, Aoyagi, OZAWA, and Ueno are all younger than Tsuji and Uemura. Anzai is younger than Shota and Oiwa.
Ozawa is exactly what NJPW should have done with their young talent. Dude has been booked to perfection.
