I will be graduating from a Japanese university with a liberal arts degree in September, and be working as a Software Engineer in a medium size Japanese company (Category 2) right after graduation (they will train me once I start). I applied to change my visa from Student to the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services back in June, by myself as the company did not have experience hiring foreigner new grads, only foreigners for mid-career.
It has been 3 months now and called last week only got told its still under process and was told to wait.
Wondering if anyone is still waiting for a reply, and have anyone successfully gotten the Engineer visa despite having a non-related degree and no training as an Software Engineer prior to entering the company. Company has been asking me nonstop as apparently they have work lined up for me from the start date. Any thoughts are welcome on what I am looking at here, and best course of action. Thanks!
