I’m in the middle of reshuffling my trip and I’m a bit confused about how the Shinkansen ticket changes work.
I originally booked all my tickets in advance through the app. When I changed my travel dates in the same app, I knew that it charges you for the new ticket and then refunds the old one. No problem there.
The issue is: I had to switch to a cheaper reserved seat (since Green Car was sold out). The app charged me the new ticket price, but my receipt says I’m only getting refunded the difference (about ¥5,000) instead of the full ¥25,000 from the original ticket.
Is this how it’s supposed to work? Or am I missing something? Any advice on what I can do to fix this would be really appreciated!
