I fly out in a week, looking for recommendations and some advice

First of all, I want to thank all the people on this sub, it’s been my guiding light answering almost every question I’ve had so far while planning my trip.

Now I’m getting ready to head out for my first trip, a 2.5 week solo jaunt around the country and I would love to hear some recommendations to help fill my days or advice on my itinerary.

My 3 big things for this trip are to enjoy as much food as I can, meeting the people, and take some great photos (specifically landscapes on film if anyone’s a nerd about that stuff like me). I also love hiking and nature so any suggestions in that department are much appreciated! I know Japan has some great national parks so I’d love to see if getting to any is a possibility.

Any suggestions that may align with that would be much appreciated, as the social media recommendations seem more inclined with staying in the city and shopping. I also wanted to make it a point to try and get out of the city for a couple days into some smaller/rural towns if only to explore and maybe find some great food.

My itinerary:

Sept 16-19:
Land in Tokyo staying in Shibuya for 3 nights

Sept 20:
1 night in minakami in a Ryokan

Sept 21-23:
2 nights in Hiroshima

Sept 23-28:
5 nights in Osaka near Dotonbori
Planning on using Osaka as a hub for Kobe, Kyoto and Nara.

Sept 28- October 3rd
TBD

figuring these days out this week or maybe on the fly 🤷‍♂️ perks of traveling solo.

Some options I’m weighing are another Ryokan stay, going to somewhere coastal, or just going back to Tokyo. Or a combination. Would love to hear people’s thoughts!

Oct: 3
Fly back home 🙁

I’ve started accumulating a list of restaurants and bars in the cities I’ll be staying in, and some shops/sights. But I’m trying to not let influencers completely plan my trip. I’d rather hear from real people.

I know I won’t get to see everything (specifically bummed I’ll miss fall colors), it just gives me a a reason to go back!

Thank you all in advance, I’m trying not to overload myself, though I am getting a bit overwhelmed as I count down the days.

(This post may be my outlet instead of doom scrolling “travel tip” accounts 😅)
