Nashi are currently in season, but I find the common 幸水 variety is too sweet for my tastes, much like all the apples available. I crave a sour Granny Smith.
But the 二十世紀 variety is the slightly sour and crunchy variety I'm used to eating back home, I found some from Nagano and they're absolutely delicious. Gonna get on mercari and look for a box of 訳あり nashi.
