Buying a haunted house

I recently moved to Japan for a new job. But due to my 5 cats and being a foreigner I cannot find a place to rent, especially since I am out in the countryside, options are limited.

Fortunately, I am in a position to buy a house and toured one I really like.

However, this house is 123 years old (we will be doing renovations and checking for termites so don't worry about that piece). I had a contractor go out to get estimates on the projects we want to do, and he informed my real estate agent that he saw a ghost.

He said she was an old lady in a kimono, and seemed "nice". They want to bless the house anyway.

Just looking for any insight or advice here. Is this something I should be concerned about? Will renovations make a ghost mad? Is it just a "scam" so a foreigner doesn't buy the house? I am still interested in the property but am only loosely familiar with Japanese ghost stories so any advice is welcome!
