It’s me, the guy who thought, “Oh, I have plenty of time to sign up.” I checked today and saw I missed the deadline by a couple of days. The website isn’t allowing for submissions. I doubt it, but does anyone know if exceptions are ever made if I contact the right people?

No exceptions they’re very strict about it. You’ll have to wait until next year.
This is Japan, no exceptions!
Remember that the BJT exists, can be taken any day, and has the same value as the JLPT when it comes to points for HSP or PR. It’s considered tougher than the JLPT though (I can confirm, some sections in particular, where you need to listen while reading a different thing – simulating reading a document in a conference room while listening to speakers – were very hard), so it’s not undertaken lightly.
But I took it, got J1+ with 605 points (much more than the 480 points that MoJ considers as equivalent to JLPT N1), and got my PR.
Edit: it’s also *extremely* effective with Japanese managers, if presented properly, e.g. you need to mention that it’s a test under the 漢検協会 umbrella. So say/write 漢検協会のビジネス日本語能力試験 and they immediately associate it with 漢検, which is famous, and famously very hard even for native Japanese. They basically think that you took a test that is targeted at Japanese people rather than foreigners and are wowed by that. They’re mistaken about that, but who am I to correct them? 😇
I forgot it as well

Why would they make an exception for that?
One time I signed up, but forgot to make my conbini payment so I couldn’t take the test. It’s our fault for being careless, just gotta wait until next time.
You aren’t late, you are 6 months early for the July session
I once got into a traffic accident on the way to buy the application form on the last day. Didn’t get an exception for that.
I missed it by 15 minutes once and they didn’t make an exception. You’re SOL.
It’s honestly ridiculous that it’s only held twice a year.
I don’t know which level you are aiming for but if you are aiming for N3 or weaker you may as well go for the JPT. As far as I know, before N2 JLPT does not provide anything that JPT does not and it is held every month, results in 2 weeks. Unless you have specific requirements, perhaps check the JPT.
No, an why would they make exceptions when its your fault?
