A freaking multistory huge store canāt even translate a simple phrase right in either English nor Chinese
National holiday.. Im guessing?
This is a testament to the extremely poor quality of English language education in schools, the inexplicable way that Japanese people fail 100% of the time to consider having a native speaker review their English (it would never occur to them that anything could be wrong or that it could possibly even matter), and a bizarre over-reliance on outdated domestic machine translation software rather than the obvious choice of using Google or DeepL.
The Chinese translation just entirely wrong tooš
Yeah I was also very close of business today. Just missed by an inch.
I am actually shocked about how most “close” signs seem to have vanished overnight. Years ago just about all stores seemed to settle on a “close” sign, now I rarely see one that doesn’t say “closed”. It doesn’t feel right.
They messed up the Chinese too.
Damn, did they prepare the English and then translate that into Chinese instead of translating directly from Japanese? That’s an extra layer of stupid.
