There are trees and a small playground in my apartment complex. This summer, many birds built nests in those trees. Every evening when I came home from work, I’d hear them chirping. It felt like music welcoming me home, giving the place a safe, nature-friendly vibe. I live in the building closest to those trees, and while some people might complain about the noise, you really can’t hear it once you’re inside your apartment. Plus, nobody spends much time outside anyway.
Then one day, I noticed an announcement on the bulletin board saying the management had gotten rid of the birds. That felt cruel. Even if they didn’t physically destroy the nests and only used sound devices to scare them away, it still makes life unbearable for the birds and likely kills the fledglings indirectly.
I could email the apartment management, but I’ve been told they usually ignore complaints—especially from foreigners.
Does anyone know of animal welfare groups in Japan that I can report this to? I think it would be more effective if an organization contacted my apartment on my behalf.
