“You touched me!” A 56-year-old unemployed woman was arrested in Nagaoka, Niigata, after suddenly pouring boiling water on a woman in her 20s who was sitting in an eat in space in a supermarket.


A 56-year-old woman was arrested in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, after she allegedly poured hot water on a woman in a supermarket.

The suspect, who is unemployed, was taken into custody on August 19. According to police, she filled a paper cup with hot water from a service dispenser in the store's cafe area and suddenly poured it on a woman in her 20s who was sitting in a chair. The suspect reportedly said to the victim, "You touched me, didn't you?"

Store employees called the police after a reported "trouble between two women." The victim was taken to a hospital for what were described as minor burns to her head and face.

The suspect has admitted to the assault, and police are investigating her motive.
