Need to book one night on the 2nd week of October around the bayside area, but jalan and rakuten tripled the prices a week after I first started searching. Now it's over 37k for a budget LiveMax room, 1 night 1 person. Now my budget can barely afford a cabin. Is something going on around those dates? I know it's a 3 day weekend but this seems excessive.

Long weekend is one issue.
And after the July earthquake rumors more and more people coming to Japan again, so I’m not surprised that hotel price goes up.
A bunch of big name artists (of the kind that have very passionate fans) having concerts at literally all the concert venues in Yokohama that weekend might be it, plus Yokohama Baystars might be hosting games in the Climax Series of baseball that weekend (provided they get to keep their second position in the league). That and the three day weekend, it’s just a perfect storm
PGA golf tournament is down there that weekend. Used to be up in Chiba New Town, but got moved starting this year.
