Recommended bank that will be accepted everywhere

For the past few years, I've been banking exclusively with SMBC Trust (SMBC信託銀行). This was the recommendation of my employer because they are supposed to have full English service at all branches. It's been mildly inconvenient because SMBC Trust is not the same as SMBC. For example, when I sign up for direct debit, I can't find SMBC Trust on their list of supported banks. Even PayPay does not accept SMBC Trust.

I have planned work travel upcoming next year where I will be out of the country for multiple weeks. Being physically present to pay all my bills is going to be a challenge. So I need to set up direct debit.

I don't need remittance services, or savings rates, or mortgage rates.

I was playing on going with Yuucho (ゆうちょ銀行) since it's partially government-owned and widely available.
