I have been here almost 20 years and I have been saying this for ages: In a society with insane working rules, with unpaid overtime, where selling your soul to a company to a point you would hire a “Quitting company” to evade your job is a thing, Japan HAS to get its shit together and offer alternatives to its population. More time to date, to establish real relationships, to make family time.

    They have been acting like giant toddlers for 40 years, only thinking: “work like a slave -> spend money to vent and have fun” and that’s it. This itself doesn’t build a society, it keeps alive for a short time a system people worked their asses off to create. But without the substance, the human, this is doomed to collapse.

    Don’t get me wrong, the Japanese society works like a clock and is highly impressive but it takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice that requires very dedicated individuals that cannot be found outside the Japanese ecosystem. If this mentally fades out with its people, Japan is gone.

  15. And aren’t most foreigners in Japan already Chinese, Korean and Philippines, who upon adopting Japanese name and language, will simply disappear into the crowd within two generations. What’s the big fuss all about?
