Hi everyone,
We booked a trip to Okinawa from Sunday, September 21st to September 25th and will be staying in Naha.
Our plan was to go snorkeling around Tokashiki and Zamami Islands, and to explore the main island by bike on the other days.
We’re a bit concerned now because of the typhoon that’s passing south of Taiwan during exactly that period. We’re really sad about the timing, and since it’s our first time experiencing a typhoon, we don’t really know what to expect.
• Is snorkeling or swimming around the Kerama Islands at all possible in such conditions, even if the typhoon doesn’t hit Okinawa directly?
• What kind of restrictions should we expect in general (ferry cancellations, strong winds, rain, closed shops, etc.)?
• Weather-wise, what is it usually like in Okinawa when a typhoon passes nearby but not directly over the island?
I know it’s hard to predict exactly, but I’d love to hear from anyone with past experience.
Thanks so much!
