A high school science teacher in Saitama Prefecture has been suspended for three months for giving sexually explicit instructions to students during a biology class. The 25-year-old male teacher, who has since resigned, was disciplined by the prefectural board of education.
According to officials, on April 17, while teaching a third-year biology class about reproduction, the teacher instructed four students, two boys and two girls, to come to the front of the classroom and assume positions that simulated sexual intercourse. A male student told the teacher to stop, and the act was not carried out.
The teacher also allegedly told a student to touch his lower abdomen. When questioned by the board of education, the teacher reportedly said he wanted to "teach in a way that was easy to understand and concrete." The teacher submitted his resignation on the same day he was suspended.
