I don't drive often in Japan, but when I do, I find that it's often a nightmare inducing experience. Both Apple Maps and Google Maps seemingly love to take me down the tiniest, narrowest alleys that can barely be called streets. I constantly have to be dodging people running into these narrow streets, slowly inch past cars coming the other way, and it feels like I am constantly just narrowly avoiding a crash with something.
Is there a better navigation service that I should be using? Or maybe some way to filter the Apple/Google Maps to only use normal roads, or wide roads? I tried looking at the filter options in Apple Maps on my recent road trip, but the only filters were those to avoid toll roads or avoid the highway…
