I used a rubber cement glue to seal a hole in shut in my shoes, but now my apartment smells like toluene (chemical solvent, like paint thinner)! I'm staying in a studio in Tokyo with no balcony, so I don't really have a good place to let these dry, and even with an open window I'm starting to get headaches until I find a better way to do this.
Any advice on a place where I can dry my shoes, or a way to do it in my apartment cleanly without breathing in toxic fumes for the next 48-72 hours?
I've thought about putting it in a sealed box of activated charcoal, any suggestions for where I can buy charcoal? I read online a lot about binchotan for cooking, but I'm not sure if this is "activated" enough for trapping VOCs.
Thanks! I'm finding these kinds of DIY American garage repair projects might not mix well with Japanese apartment life, but I hope to be proved wrong.
