This year we’re heading to Sapporo with our two teenage sons. It’s our family’s first time experiencing snow, so I put together a provisional itinerary but still need advice on a few things before locking it in.
👉 Here’s the draft so far:
- Day 1 – Arrival, check-in, light walk around Odori Park
- Day 2 – Okurayama Ski Jump + Winter Sports Museum / Takino Suzuran Hillside Park
- Day 3 – Ski lessons at Sapporo Teine
- Day 4 – Otaru day trip
- Day 5 – Kiroro Ski Resort
- Day 6 – Asahiyama Zoo + Blue Pond (worth the effort in this season?)
- Day 7 – Tanukikoji / Nijo Market / Mitsui Outlet Park / Jozankei Onsen
- Day 8 – Free day: maybe Lake Shikotsu, Science Center, or Moerenuma Park activities
- Day 9 – Departure
💡 A few things I’d love advice on:
- For first-time snow travelers, are we pacing this too lightly or too heavily?
- Without driving, are trips like Asahiyama Zoo or Lake Shikotsu realistic?
- For teenagers, which activities would be the most fun/memorable?
- Do family-friendly onsens like Jozankei allow teens to join?
I’m also open to suggestions if there are other unique experiences in/around Sapporo that first-timers often miss.
