On Sept 28, Yasuhiro Nakagawa (74), chairman of JA Group Kyoto, held a press conference to say he filed a request for review with the National Tax Tribunal after the Osaka Regional Taxation Bureau found that several family businesses run by Nakagawa's relatives had not declared income of approximately 500 million yen over a seven-year period.
It is believed that the family companies asked business partners to issue fake receipts, mainly in connection with construction work commissioned by JA Group Kyoto, and made it appear as if they paid outsourcing expenses.
Nakagawa is alleged to have received a total of approximately 300 million yen from these family companies, which the tax authorities judged to be Nakagawa's income.
