JA Fukui’s sales of rice have dropped to about half of last year’s levels.

JA Fukui Prefecture official stated that as of Sept 22, approximately 2,200 tons of brown rice was sold. This is roughly only half the amount sold last year when rice shortage became a hot topic and demand surged.

The slowdown is attributed to wholesalers still having 2024 rice stocks, leading some to delay or limit new rice purchases.
