  1. It was 13 outside on the farm when I got up around 5. I had to put on a hoodie whilst having my coffee as it was a bit cool inside.

  2. Extremely unscientific poll: people that live in the Tokyo area, if you could find an equivalent job elsewhere in the country would you leave Tokyo?

  3. Costco cheddar cheese slices – Rolf or Kraft? Which taste better? I want to make cheeseburgers 😊

(Edit: for reference, the 雪印メグミルク ones from the supermarket taste like ass)

  4. This is the waterproofing on my balcony. Clearly not urethane paint as I was expecting. Not fiberglass either. Feels like a rigid plastic, and you can see a dot pattern moulded into it.

    Is it PVC sheet?

30 years without maintainence so was planning on painting on a layer of top coat assuming it was urethane.

PVC seems to have a 12-18 year lifespan. This is 30 years old and no cracks, no leaks no fading.

Anything I can can do to protect it for another decade or so?

  5. Anyone else addicted to the ikitekaeru channel on youtube?

Haven’t even been hiking since I was a kid in a camping family (the great outdoors gene skipped me and I will never go to the mountains again of my own free will, to me they are best admired from a distance lol) but this channel is addicting. Clear easy to understand narration, not dramatic but not sugar coated either, very straightforward. Respectful of the real people and their families in each incident. Not gory or too scary (though I can barely watch the bear attack ones, find them especially horrifying) since it’s all little animations. Food for thought on what mistakes were made, the psychological states and biases people fall into that prompt them to make the decisions that mean difference between life and death.

  6. To anyone who has obtained a job via a recruitment agency, how close to a done deal is the 職場見学 stage?

Google makes it sound like a not-a-job-interview job interview and thus possible to flunk, but some Japanese friends are acting like I’ve already essentially got the job.
