I recently moved into an apartment block in Tokyo that is mostly inhabited by foreigners. The walls are paper thin and I have neighbours on each side next to me, above and below me. Everyone is quiet after 22:00 except for the European guy next to me. Every night pretty much exactly at midnight he starts talking on the phone to his family. I always wake up from it. Next week my university will start and I’ll have to get up really early each day. On one hand I want to say something but on the other I kind of feel bad because what if he works late or something and this is the only time he can talk to his family? It is however really loud and he doesn’t make attempts to lower his voice at all and has his phone on speaker too. I’m a bit torn because I don’t want him to feel bad about talking to his family.
