Advice for moving into a new apartment.

Myself (foreigner) and my partner (Japanese) are moving into a new apartment in Shinjuku this week. Contracts signed, garuntor and insurance all set up.

I've rented consistently abroad for the past 11 years and my partner rented for about half a year in Canada. She has never rented in Japan.

The building is only about 3 years old so no major concerns with mold at the moment. Next summer we'll get a dehumidifier.

Apart from washing machine, fridge, bed, table, chairs… what are some things we should consider that I may not immediately think of coming from rental markets where more is generally provided by the landlord.

Wifi is included and we have been in contact with water, gas and electric.

Just trying to think of anything else that could be a headache for us over the next few weeks. Getting used to a much smaller space is the main concern I have so far but I've never lived in a building this new before, so excited all the same.

Thanks in advance
