I get that he’s trying to show his skills, but Gabe doing high flying spots isn’t working, especially when he’s botching them.

I just watched Gabe's match with Shingo from Destruction in Kobe and it felt to me like his character was having an identity crisis by introducing the high flying spots, the moonsault to the outside, the botched springboard hurricanrana.

The one that stood out to me most was the backflip escape from a German suplex, combine this with Finlay losing to Tsuji and it all reminds me very much of Kenny Omega's ascension to Bullet Club leader. Which makes me very convinced that Gabe has taken in to his head to emulate Kenny, even doing Kenny's spots, the backflip German suplex escape especially to try and position himself as NJPW's foreign ace.

But in doing this he's drifting away from what made him so appealing as a wild card brawler. He's becoming diluted, which is a shame as his 2024 run was great as he was locked in on his role.

I am also half expecting him to usurp Finlay as War Dogs leader if he sticks around, which I think is a mistake as Finlay is much more well rounded performer and is far more consistent.
