I’ve (F 36 Japanese citizen) been researching on how to get a COE to bring my husband &daughter back to Japan on a spousal/child visa. I keep seeing that you have to include a Statement of Reason (riyu-sho) &Letter of Guarantee (mimoto hoshosho). For those of you that have applied, what are some examples to include &what did you write? Was it rather simple to get a COE, then a visa?
My mother still lives in Japan &will help with getting the necessary documents &sending us the COE, once ready. But this all seems so complex &my anxiety won’t let me simplify this process. I tried breaking it down Barney-style, please correct me if the simplified version is wrong:
•Send mother necessary documents to obtain a COE
•Have mother mail COE to me (residing in the US)
•Take COE to Japanese Embassy to apply for Visa
•Get a visa (or stamp or card?)
•Show airport immigration this visa when entering Japan (3 months within issuing period)
I think I’m overthinking this process too much, but TIA.
