Hi all! I’m planning my honeymoon from June 24, 2026-July 4, 2026, and was hoping to get your help. I’m in the early stages of trip planning, so any and all advice is welcome! No flights have been booked, but we won’t be able to arrive earlier than June 24. We’re outdoorsy, so any advice for trails and bike rides are particularly welcome!
Wednesday June 24: arrive in Osaka in the evening. Check into a hotel in Osaka. Go to sleep.
Thursday June 25: explore Osaka. Check out Kuromon Market, Dontonbori, Shinsekai – basically spend the day walking around and eating. Spent the night in the same hotel as the night prior.
Friday June 26: Head to Kyoto. Explore Kiyomizu-dera, Nanzen-ji, Sanneizaka Street, Yasaka Pagoda, Gion – choose a couple from this list.
Saturday June 27: Kyoto. Early morning visit to Fushimi Inari? Walk Philosopher’s Path, Ginkaku-ji. See anything interesting not covered yesterday. Stay in the same place as yesterday.
Sunday June 28: head to Arashiyama. Spend the night in a Ryokan here. Explore bamboo grove, monkey park, Tenryu-ji temple, boat ride on Hozugawa River? Ryokan for dinner and night. (QUESTION: we’re interested in a ryokan with a private onsen. Any suggestions?)
Monday June 29: Arashiyama. Explore anything not seen the day before. Return to Kyoto in the evening. Dinner in Pontocho?
Tuesday June 30: Day trip to Uji. Byodo-in Temple, Uji River Walk, maybe a tea ceremony. Return to Kyoto in the afternoon, explore Kyoto imperial palace gardens or Nishiki Market if we have the energy.
Wednesday July 1: Day trip to Kurama to do the Kurama -> Kibune hike. Lunch at a riverside restaurant in Kibune. Return to Kyoto afterwards. Nighttime visit to Fushimi Inari?
Thursday July 2: Kyoto -> Tokyo. Stay in Shibuya. Walk along Sumida River, see Tokyo Skytree, Kabukicho Tower for dinner.
Friday July 3: Tokyo. Shibuya crossing, Shibuya Parco, Miyashita Park, Harajuku, Takeshita Street, Shibuya sky roof observatory at night? Stay same place as previous night.
Saturday July 4: Depart from Tokyo Haneda.
