Hi, so I have an Australian Motorola phone and tried getting a sim card from Rakuten. They put some store sim card in the phone to call 111 (some process or something….idk) and it wouldn't work. They told me that generally foreign phones don't work at all in Japan and I would have to buy a Japanese phone instead.
I'm guessing this is likely true since tech wise things here have different component's, but my data roaming on other phone works fine, so I don't know why sim cards here wouldn't work but as we know how backwards this place is tech wise it wouldn't surprise me.
I honestly just need a sim for data for google maps and translator and phone number to make line account. I've had the tourist sim cards and the speeds are worst than dial up almost 100% of the time.
Anyone got any suggestions of just have to bite the bullet and buy new phone.
