Mother arrested for keeping her daughter’s body in freezer for 20 years: “The smell filled the whole house, so I bought a new freezer and kept her body in it”

On Sept 25, Ushiku Police Station, Ibaraki arrested an unemployed woman (75) from Ami Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, on suspicion of abandoning a corpse of her eldest daughter in a home freezer. During confessed during questioning saying she bought a new freezer because the smell from the decomposed body filled the house.

According to the announcement, the woman is suspected of abandoning her eldest daughter's body in a freezer (approximately 85 cm high, 95 cm wide, and 60 cm deep) in the kitchen on the first floor of her home on the 23rd. On morning of the same day, the woman visited the police station with her relative to confess her crime.
