How to get a place to stay for rent?

I’m active duty, but will be separating in November. I do not have a spouse or dependents.

My plans is to be employed before I separate, and do college afterwards while in my stay.

I tried applying on e-uchina.net, but they said I need to have a Japanese bank account.

What other information or documents do I need to stay legal on island?
