1. That is in fact a Neo Nazi in the pic with her, however
2. They met just once (he was just an assistant to a person who interviewed her)
3. He asked for a pic and as a politician she was not going to refuse
4. She had no idea he held those extremist views when she met him
5. She does not share those views (EDIT: to clarify I mean “she’s stated that she does not share those views”)
6. They tried multiple times to get the pictures scrubbed because she does not want to be associated with him
Basically a very different story from what OP has presented. OP, you’re free to dispute.
*”Japan’s new PM used to hang out with neo-Nazis”*
To be absolutely frank, it would not surprise me at all to discover she still does.
A Japanese neo-nazi? lol wtf is that.
Mmmmmk. Anyway, on with my day.
I meant Japan in the past used to hang out with Nazi
Nice framing, poor taste. Being seen with a person doesnt make you being aligned with their views.
All the more reasons not to visit Japan.
I’m not supporting her or anything like that because i don’t honestly know much about her but she did deny that she had any idea of his extreme views at the time and that she met him as the assistant of the interviewer who asked to take a photo. She is however extremely conservative but her proposed policies typically shouldn’t affect people who live in Japan with the intention of assimilation.
TLDR she ain’t all that Nazism brodie, just behave and don’t be dumbass and you’ll be fine.
She also says her hero is Margaret Thatcher, so we’re fucked.
Are you perhaps a misogynist OP?
She is definitely a far-right neoliberal, and you can probably expect her to make friends with Sanseito
Misleading. Two separate photos can’t have one meaning.
VICE is a leftist news outlet…
Lefts here crying over their entitlement in Japan fading LOL
She’s a fan of Margaret Thatcher. That should tell everyone everything.
Why do people even still vote for that moron party.
God damn propaganda. Would you shut up or stop misleading mister?
I am baffled by the morons in this thread and others who seem to support Takaichi Sanae. She’s alt-right, anti-immigration (and not just the people you dislike, you dipshits), and plans to work WITH groups like Sanseito, etc.
She’s also a Japanese WW2 war crime denier, her whole fucking thing at this point is to bring back “the old Japan”, which is basically “Bring back Imperial Japan”. She’s in favor of restoring the military – not strengthening the JSDF mind you, but restoring the military – and wants to refocus the government around the Emperor as a central figure again.
Seriously what the fuck is wrong with those of you here (In Japan) cheering her win?
Mods should delete this.
Yeah you need that, don’t do what western countries has been doing so far. Care for your woman, children and the elderly. Sand dwellers are a bunch of savages, violation, mutilation, and degeneration is what they do. All supported by neo liberals.
Let’s call the entire population Nazis. We still got billions more to go.
How can I get out from my county?
Now I can understand how Americans have been feeling.
Okay well she didn’t hang out with him while has doing the Nazi salute or when he had the Nazi flag displayed behind him.
She may very well suck like most Japanese politicians but insinuating she supports this behavior based on a one time meeting is a bit unfair.
There might be war bw China and Japan soon, everybody, embrace yourself.
I am going to buy gold, lots of gold
CDP gotta clutch ig
She is the new leader of the LDP she is not the PM please get basic information correct
That long hand looks weird. Is it real?
Oh shit, here we go again…
Practically speaking what does her election likely mean in terms of change in immigration policy ? Does anyone have any links that outline what the likely changes will be?

Time to leave Japan
Not surprised at all
As a woman I should be happy another woman is finally elected prime minister in this country…
But the victory is very bitter. Gawd, we’re not going in the good direction, not at all.
How does a Japanese nazi even work?
She still does, but she used to, too.
Before we get all up in arms this photo is from 2009 and she claims she didn’t was not aware of his extreme views at the time.
Quick Google search yielded this [article](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/09/neo-nazi-photos-pose-headache-for-shinzo-abe) which says:
1. That is in fact a Neo Nazi in the pic with her, however

3. He asked for a pic and as a politician she was not going to refuse

You clearly know nothing of history.
Japan is just going back to its roots.
