Buying a used car, and I need to make a 1 million yen+ bank transfer from my Yucho account to them by Friday. Yucho bank limits transfers to 0.5 million per day. I believe the transfer must be made in one payment, so I went to the bank counter which enables you to send larger transfers by filling out a form. I showed my driver’s license and passport as a form of identification, but it was not accepted—it must be a zairyu card. As my zairyu card is expired and has been in the renewal process for a month now since I applied online, I explained the situation and showed the card and proof of renewal email. The transfer was still not allowed as I was told I needed the physical valid card on my person.
The dealer is closed today, so I’m figuring out what I should plan to do. Since the payment is to be made in three days, I am thinking of asking if it can be broken into three payments. I still need to consider alternatives if for some reason that is not possible. The dealership is in another prefecture so while travel is possible, it would probably be my last choice (withdrawing 0.5m a day in cash for example then handing it over to them if they agree with those terms).
Another option is opening a bank account elsewhere, making three transfers to it, then sending the lump sum on Friday. But I don’t know which bank allows for that amount to be sent all at once and if I can apply and make it all happen in a day (with an expired zairyu card).
Any advice appreciated. Thank you.
