How do I transfer money from my Japanese bank account into my UK bank account?

Hello everyone,

I recently moved to Japan and was set-up with a regional bank in my prefecture. From my understanding, it is a general account merely intended for my salary to be paid into. The only other actions on the account involved recieving a small amount of money via transfer from a friend, where I was contacted by the bank to confirm that I knew the sender.

I am able to use my bank card at ATMs to withdraw and deposit money, and have access to a basic mobile app. However, I would like to know how I'd be able to transfer money from this account to my Barclays account back home, in order to keep using the funds in this account for online purchases etc. as I am unable to use my Japanese bank card for such.

Any advice would be appreciated.
