Welcome Suica question

Hi,

I moved here recently, it will take me a while to get a local bank card so I got a Welcome Suica and topped it up.

I tried using it at Lawsons and they said they don’t take it, even though the Welcome Suica website says it should. Due to the language barrier I couldn’t get a lot of details from the store clerk.

Any idea if this is something specific to the island and it works in mainland stores?

I kind of did a dumb thing and topped it up with way too much money. Already did the troubleshooting steps and I have it enabled as express transit, location on, etc.
