Snake spotted in Shimokitazawa

My friend was in a taxi to Shimokita last night and spotted this snake by the side of the road. I’m no snake expert but it looks like python, and not like any of the native snakes so we were guessing it must be an escaped pet.

  1. Definitely an escaped pet snake and non venomous. If he’s scared and bites, they’re very very small teeth and you can just let it settle down and it should release you, if not you can run a little cold water (not warm or strong pressure) to get it to release.

If you’re able to grab it, try doing so from around the middle, gently by lifting it up and then gently supporting its belly. You can transport it in a pillow case (drop it into the case and then a loose knot at the top to secure it closed) will make it go quiet and docile. Might have a reptile rescue in the city you can take it to. I was in Tokyo last week (not in Kagawa) wish I could help out but hope someone can grab this lil friend.

  2. Please tell me you got it to safety? Looks like someone’s escaped pet ball python… looks injured too…
