Halloween in Okinawa

Hi all! I'm in Japan until Nov 4, I'll be spending sometime in Okinawa from Oct 24-Nov 4. I haven't ever celebrated Halloween and was wondering if Okinawa has anywhere you can go out/dress up and party? If so would anyone be down to meet up and do so?

I'm 25F and travelling from Aus.

  1. When I checked there used to be a dress up thing near American village but couldn’t see anything online for this year

  2. The American Village/Aeon Mall area is usually packed with people in costumes on Halloween, but not usually advertised or anything, especially in English, online. As Halloween is on a Friday this year, many bars will be full of people in costumes. For English speaking majority places, look to Sunabe and Gate 2 street in the center of the island.

  3. I’m also going to Oki during that time frame. I don’t know what costume to bring with me as I’ve never celebrated Halloween before.

  4. AV used to be the spot for everyone to dress up for Halloween pre-covid but after that it came back recently but is now exclusively family friendly only and has lost its spark. Gate 2 is the only one I know that has Halloween themed “parties” but it’s really no different from another night on gate 2 street.
