Had an accident in my rented car with full cover.

As the title says. I was driving down a very narrow road and a car was coming up so I swerved to move and didn't realise I had no space and went down a ditch.

As the car went down this ditch it also hit a small metal pole that logged into the bumper.

I didn't know this but the wall and pole was owned by someone.

I called the police and the car rental who told me to call JAF. They removed the car luckily from the ditch and it's drivable and covered by my insurance.

The policeman took my details and the details of the person's wall and metal pole that I damaged and filled in a sheet for my rent a car company

I am now just very worried and in shock. I am concerned I can get heavily fined for this as I saw online that negligent driving that causes damage can result in huge fines or jail time.

Any advice on this? Thank you
