Aaron Wolf is on ringside duty.
Tatsuya Matsumoto, Shoma Kato def Zane Jay, Masatora Yasuda — (9:01, Boston Crab)
-
Kato gets right in Zane’s face, who cheekily attacked him during last show’s Backstage Comments. They shove each other a little but separate without major incident so they can start the match clean.
-
Post match, Yasuda comes in to console Zane and the winning team comes over to taunt them just a little bit.
-
We end this mini series with the Matsumoto teams and Zane teams tied at 2 wins each.
Shota Umino def Katsuya Murashima — (11:28, Lariat)
-
Singles match means the more serious Shota, aka basically no fanservice during the entrance.
-
This was good, both guys had a lot of fire. Murashima outlasted junior Daiki Nagai’s time against Umino (9:41) by 1:37.
-
Post match, Shota goes over and offers a fistbump to the still fallen Murashima, who returns it and then is helped out of the ring by Wolf.
-
Umino does some fanservice as he leaves.
Clark Connors, Drilla Moloney def
Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SANADA[t-shirtversion] — (7:04, Count Out)
-
Drilla still has possession of the guitar. This time he and Clark make to the apron before sliding in to attack; leading to an outside brawl where we get a Wheel-san appearance.
-
After a few minutes Nobu brings Clark into the ring.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: moderate. SANADA did the water bottle spot, there was a ref bump and dick kick.
-
So the finish was that while the ref was down Drilla was able to dodge a SANADA guitar shot and then get the guitar, at which point SANADA bailed out of the ring and started walking away to get counted out. But Drilla fucked it up by leaving the ring to stand on the apron, which broke the count when it was at 18. So the ref had to start again at 1.
-
Post-hell Nobu immediately goes over and shoves Drilla, who superkicks him and then Clark spears him.
-
Drilla gets a mic. At Korakuen Drilla said he wants no rules at KOPW, but SANADA still hasn’t accepted. So he has two choices: accept the match being No Rules, or Drilla smashes Nobu (who’s being held captive by Clark) in the head with the guitar.
-
SANADA is in the back by the production table and gets a mic. He tells Drilla to take it easy, first in Japanese and then in English. SANADA says he doesn’t accept, Drilla says okay and then goes to smash Nobu; but pauses when SANADA speaks up again.
-
SANADA says in Japanese that that guitar is worth more than Drilla makes in a year. He then goes over to Walker and has him translate it into English.
-
Drilla then taunts that he’ll put his foot through the guitar, SANADA says in English “please don’t crush.” Drilla tells him to make a choice. SANADA waffles more, so Drilla puts down the mic and gets ready to smash Nobu.
-
SANADA finally agrees to their match being No DQ. Drilla says he’ll see SANADA for the Riot at Ryogoku. Then he smashes Nobu with the guitar anyways, but we only hear it because the camera was completely on SANADA.
-
SANADA is visibly upset, Drilla stomps on the guitar some more then chucks a piece of it SANADA’s way.
-
SANADA carries the piece of guitar out, and I believe it was Matsumoto who piggyback carried a KOed Nobu out. Aaron Wolf is on ring sweeping duty.
Dick Togo, Don Fale, EVIL def Tiger Mask, Toru Yano, Boltin Oleg — (7:03, Scorpion Deathlock)
-
Boltin is once again in physical possession of his belt… for now.
-
HoT wait until Boltin’s entrance announcement is almost finished to attack. Fale and Yano stay in the ring, on the outside EVIL briefly takes the belt again.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: moderate. Fale interfered to hit Tiger with a Grenade which directly led to the finish.
-
Post match, the House continue stomping on Tiger. Zane comes in to try and help, but gets tossed out. Boltin comes in but gets overwhelmed, then a brief hope spot before eating an EVIL.
-
EVIL once again takes possession of the NEVER belt. As Dick is leaving, he unmasks Tiger for extra heel points.
Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) def Tomoaki Honma, Yuya Uemura — (9:38, Ref Stoppage [sleeper hold])
-
Yuto’s arm is still (kayfabe) taped up and he’s still flipping off fans.
-
Once they’ve shed their entrance gear, K.O.B attack. Yuto takes Yuya to the outside and tosses him into the audience, OSKAR stays in with Honma.
-
A minute into the match, OSKAR did a spot where he got annoyed with the ref and grabbed him by the neck then backed him up to the ropes and (somewhat, wasn’t a deadlift) lifted him up by the throat, which the crowd popped for.
-
Bomboclaat level: 2
-
Finish is both Brothers getting the faces in sleepers. OSKAR puts some extra stank on his, lifting Honma up and spinning him around, and kokeshi passes out.
-
Post match, Yuto keeps pummeling Yuya, and then knocks the YL away when they try to interfere. He stomps on Yuya’s face until OSKAR .
-
OSKAR gets Yuya in Piledriver position, but Shota comes out to save him. But K.O.B have the numbers and after a minute they get the advantage and hit Shota with K.O.B.
-
K.O.B get the belts, Yuto stands on the still KOed Yuya’s face and talks shit to him, OSKAR stands on Shota’s chest while holding the belt up.
-
Yuto gives us a final Bomboclaat as he leaves.
Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, David Finlay, Gabe Kidd def Daiki Nagai, Titan, Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji — (10:35, INTO OBLIVION)
-
No Hiromu because he’s off defending the GHC title in NOAH at this exact moment (that show is also why no TV title preview today, Tana’s there as well).
-
Tsuji’s wearing his Gene Blast bomber jacket and Unaffiliated hat, both of which you can/will be able to purchase online.
-
During the Dogs’ entrance Finlay goes around the outside aisle between the stands so he can say hi to Clark on English comms. Gabe as usual walks through the crowd.
-
Gabe and Tsuji have a staredown, but separate without incident to get ready to start.
-
There’s some light antagonizing between teams, then Titan and Gedo start.
-
This was good. Finlay gave Nagai a lot.
-
Post match, Gabe yells shit at a fallen Tsuji; who he had in a sleeper on the outside. Gabe sits Shibata style in the ring with the title in front of him and stares Tsuji down as he recovers. Then he stands on the turnbuckle to keep staring Tsuji down until he leaves.
-
Clark briefly excuses himself from commentary to talk to Finlay about something. (I do have a theory on where this is going but I don’t want to say it too openly here.)
IWGP Junior Tag titles: SHO, DOUKI[c] def KUUKAI, El Desperado — (20:34, roll up [with a handful of tights, after a metal sheet shot from SHO])
-
After the entrances, HoT leave the ring and SHO gets a mic to talk shit as usual.
-
He gets back in the ring to start with Despe, but then bails again and we get another outside brawl.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: moderate-high. Decent amount of outside action. KUUKAI ate a chair shot. Rest Shoes took a bump, Despe got nutted.
-
There was a pretty good match in between all the Shenanigans, though. KUUKAI is interesting and I don’t mind (presumably) seeing more of him in SJTL.
-
Post match, SHO grabs the titles and a mic while he and DOUKI retreat to the aisle. SHO: “Just like you saw, we're on a different level! We aren't going to talk to you (the crowd), you can listen to those losers instead!” He drops the mic and the House leave.
-
KUUKAI and Despe are unfortunately not fit to be cutting promos, and just hobble to the back together to end the show.
