  1. Waiting for the comments to be full of people justifying this behavior or commenting on how Nepali immigrants are bad and deserve it.

Basically the same thing that happened to that news about Kurdish immigrants a week or so back.

  2. Can’t we just acknowledge Japan just like any other nation has millions of people living in it and there are assholes here just like any other country…

I understand that by bringing up these topics we are shedding light on it, but we are also giving undue attention to losers like that japanese guy who is clearly a broken person because you have to have something completely broken in your life to be angry at someone’s hat.

If this becomes systemic then it’s an issue but weirdos like that don’t deserve to get any coverage

  3. American living in Japan here. If this is how foreigners are going to be treated, I’ll personally accept and return jeans, digital computers, and baseball to the U.S.

I get the frustration with tourists in Japan. I also understand the frustration with foreigners that move here and don’t respect the culture.

This is just bigotry, and Japan has far more to lose than gain by treating foreigners this way. Shameful.

  4. I would love to see every country that doesn’t want foreigners lose all of them and watch society crumble as nobody wants to do the remedial jobs like taking care of old people and selling them their chu his.

  5. Like i’ve mentioned before in other threads, the current increase in xenophobia is largely a result of stagnant wages and a rise in the cost of living. Politicians are using foreigners as a reason for why Japanese people are having a harder life.

The truth is however is that the **government and ruling business class** are at fault. If all the foreigners went home tomorrow, Japanese people would still largely be having a harder life because the jobs the foreigners leave behind are the jobs that usually can’t be filled by locals.

Which young Japanese man wants to go pick oranges for such small salaries? Or work at a combini? Or at a hostel?

  6. Another Asian here and living here since more than a decade and half and I don’t remember seeing anything similar here ever. It’s the MAGA everywhere and really feel scared because you don’t know how the other will treat you on the road..
