Airport security inspector was arrested on suspicion of stealing 90,000 yen in cash during a baggage inspection. Suspicious activity was caught on security camera footage, and further crimes are being investigated. The inspector admits to stealing total amount of 1.5 million yen since August


Matsumoto Ryu, a 21-year-old airport security inspector, was arrested for stealing 90,000 yen in cash from a passenger during a baggage inspection.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Matsumoto stole from a passenger who placed 110,000 yen in cash on a tray during baggage screening. Pretending to adjust the luggage, he grabbed 90,000 yen and slipped the money into his uniform pocket. When his shit ended, he moved the cash nside the toilet paper core.

The theft was discovered after a passenger reported it, and security cameras captured suspicious movements by Matsumoto. Matsumoto has stated that he "stole for the thrill," and has said that he has stolen a total of approximately 1.5 million yen in 70 to 80 cases since August. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating whether he may have committed any further crimes.
