Hello, I’m an American who’s been living in Japan for 15 months on a Language School Visa. Me and my Japanese girlfriend have decided to get married and I had a few questions.
1) I receive VA Disability/Compensation as my income, will this be an acceptable form of income?
2) I have about 50,000 USD in my American bank account as savings, will this be enough?
3) If 1 and 2 aren’t good enough, my girlfriend is an exotic dancer (think stripper). Would her income be good enough for our visa?
4) We need to submit the marriage certificate, add me to her family registry, have her update her address to mine, then submit the application in city hall with the questionnaire and pictures to prove our relationship is legitimate. Am I missing anything else important?
5) Since I’m already a resident with a residency card, we just apply for Change of Status we don’t need to do any COE stuff right?
6) How long does it usually take to find out if you’re approved/rejected? And are the visa durations always 1 year?
