On the night of the 13th, near Kanuma Interchange on the outbound Tohoku Expressway, a car carrying a family of three rear-ended a car that had come to a stop after hitting a guardrail.

A two-year-old boy was left unconscious and in critical condition, while his 36-year-old father and six-year-old brother were also injured.

The driver of the stopped car fled the scene, leaving it behind, but police have since detained a foreign man believed to be the driver.
