
At around 5:25 pm on the 12th, a call was made to 110 reporting that an employee had been stabbed at a building in Akasaka 3-chome, Minato Ward, Tokyo. According to the Akasaka Police Station, a male executive in his 30s was stabbed in the stomach when entering the building and became unconscious. A male company associate in also in his 30s suffered minor injuries to his finger. Police arrested Gebremariam Mesfin Mularet (61), an unemployed Ethiopian national from Machida City, Tokyo, on suspicion of attempted murder.
The suspect was a bartender at a bar formerly run by the company, and the male executive was the bar's manager. The company withdrew from the company about a year ago, and the suspect was fired. "I tried to get an introduction for my next job many times, but wasn't able to," he said.
