Okinawa in Dec/Jan — Nanjo near Ou island as homebase?

Hi! I’m planning to spend a month in Okinawa as part of a larger three month Japan trip. I’m looking at a place near Ou island. We plan to rent a car for the month. We want the city to be accessible but want relaxing vibes. Does this seem like a nice area to stay in, or should we look in Naha, or further north? Any input appreciated. ありがとございます！
