On the 8th, Mitsubishi Electric announced that it is offering aged 53 and over employees voluntary retirement option. The company's financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2025 showed strong performance, with sales and operating profits reaching new highs. However, the company is revising its business structure and is taking the voluntary retirement initiative in order to rejuvenate its workforce.
The program is open to full-time employees who are 53 years of age or older and have worked for at least three years as of March 15, 2026, as well as those who have been rehired after retirement. Of the company's 42,000 employees, 10,000 meet this condition (8,000 full-time employees and 2,000 rehired employees).
The number of people to be recruited has not been set. The recruitment period is scheduled to run from December 15, 2025 to January 9, 2026.
