Hi everyone!
I live in Osaka and I’m thinking about replacing my tires soon (215/45R17).
Since it almost never snows here, I’m not sure whether I should just get all-season tires, or go the traditional route with summer + winter tires and store one set during the off-season. (I don't have much space so I may need to pay for the storage service)
The thing is, I might occasionally drive to areas like Kyoto or Nara in winter (my family will visit during winter), but I’m not sure yet, maybe a couple of times a year, or maybe never.
I’ve heard that all-season tires are legal even on snowy roads if they have the 3PMSF mark, but not sure how police or highway patrols treat that in practice here in Japan. (I found that some roads require chains too).
For those of you living around Kansai, what did you go with?
Do you use all-seasons year-round, or keep a separate winter set just in case?
Any advice or experience would be super helpful.
