Just got the results back in the UK (offered alternate position), just wondering if anyone knows the chances of getting it? I did some research and it said alternate “often” just bumped up.
But i’m just wondering how curiously optimistic i should be :/
Thanks for any advice 🫶🏻
EDIT : Also! does anyone know when alternates are likely to find out? is it likely to be after the acceptance deadlines are?

I’m in the same position and wondering the same thing! Cautiously optimistic but not sure if I should be 😬
1). Alternates get bumped up when someone else turns down their offer/drops out.
2). Where you are on the alternates list depends on how well you did on the interview.
3). If you’re high on the alternates list, you’ve got a really good chance. If you’re low, eh…
4). No, they probably won’t tell you where you are on the list.
I read a post somewhere that said they got bumped up form alternate in November so there’s still a chance but also that’s a long time to be in standby
Hi, I was in the same position last year, but I was upgraded shortly after all the results came out. However, all upgrades happen at different times, it just depends on when spots are available.
Sometimes spots open up around this time when people change their minds on being in JET. Other times, spots open up when placements come out and people don’t like their placements.
It all depends on timing and availability.

We had an alternate came in around October because an ALT in our prefecture broke contract and their school needed a replacement.
I got upgraded last year two weeks ish after the results came in. I would advise to expect nothing, hut rejoice if you get anything, and make the most if you do get it.
I had a friend who was upgraded in December. So, like other people said, expect nothing but be happy when it comes!
My understanding is that most upgrades come in June and July because that is when most people that are going to drop decide to do it.
